How Do You Translate Untokening?

Pensando desde la justicia del lenguaje, un equipo de pensadores de la movilidad y el espacio público de Santiago (Chile) y el Reino Unido se han dado a la area de interpretar nuestro pensamiento colectivo sobre la injusticia en las calles. La meta no es realizar una traducción literal; se trata de traducir desde la experiencia y enunciar las formas de opresión que compartimos y que conectan a nuestras comunidades en el mundo colonizado.

What does “mobility justice” mean in Santiago, Bogotá, or Ciudad de México? How does a concept like “untokening” travel to places with different legal and cultural histories of race, class, gender, and ability? There is a project currently underway to translate the 1.0 Principles of Mobility Justice into castellano Spanish.
Inspired by language justice, a team of mobility and public space thinkers based in Santiago, Chile and the U.K. have taken on interpreting our collective articulation of street injustices. The goal isn’t to translate literally; it’s to translate experientially, naming the parallel and commonly rooted oppressions that connect our communities across the colonized world.
